Julie Birkett, 48, an easyJet crew member was arrested for being drunk after a flight she was operating, from Alicante to Newcastle, had landed. Birkett was three times over the alcohol limit for cabin crew and claimed that she did not know how much alcohol she consumed because a colleague had given her a drink during a changeover. Birkett resigned and was later given a 12-month conditional discharge and fined £85 in court costs plus a £21 victim surcharge.
