Mohammad Salah, 65, a Lebanese journalist was falsely arrested on suspicion of having a role in the June 1985 hijacking of TWA flight 847. The man was identified from a passport check after alighting a cruise in Greece; reportedly biometric data led to the arrest. The suspect was believed to be Muhammed Ali Hamadi who was arrested two years after the hijacking but exchanged for Germans who were abducted in Beirut. Salah was released on 23 September in a case of mistaken identity. The 1985 hijacking, conducted by Hezbollah, lasted 17 days – one hostage was killed.
