Pakistan International Airline’s passengers and the Airport Security Force (ASF) engaged in an argument and fight with passengers at Islamabad International Airport who had become frustrated after their flight from Riyadh to Peshawar was diverted to Islamabad due to bad weather. The airline did not provide any food or drinks for over an hour, so they damaged property in the VIP lounge. ASF were sent to the lounge to calm down the passengers. Video footage of the incident, which went viral, showed a passenger throwing a chair at an ASF official, the ASF employee throwing it back and spitting at the passenger. Prime Minister Imran Khan suspended and ordered disciplinary proceedings of Civil Aviation Authority and Pakistan International Airlines employees. This included the airport manager, Tahir Sikandar, and duty terminal managers, Zaheer and Malik Akram, Station Manager of PIA Islamabad, Pervez Naseer, and his team.
