24 AUGUST 2020: ALGIERS, ALGERIA

Tahar Allache, the managing director of Airport Systems and Infrastructure Management Company, allegedly used his influence to help military and government officials smuggle money through Algiers Airport and out of the country. The UK Serious Fraud Office and the Algerian judiciary have been investigating, since 2019, whether Allache accepted a bribe from Ultra Electronics in exchange for a contract to supply electronic equipment to the new terminal at the airport. Additionally, Allache is accused of taking advantage of young women by setting up a casting couch operation and attempting to build a bedroom and jacuzzi next to his office at the airport.
