Reports emerged that a lawsuit had been filed against United Airlines claiming that the airline failed to protect a 16-year-old teenager from sexual assault. Vijaykumar Krishnappa, 29, groped the teenager while she slept on a flight from Seattle to Newark in July 2017. He was sentenced to three months in jail. The lawsuit claims that United Airlines staff did not reprimand the perpetrator, moved the teenager to a seat were Krishnappa could still see her, did not inform the authorities about the assault and allowed the perpetrator to walk off the flight.
