António Pinto, former president of Mozambique Airlines, Hélder Fumo, former financial director for the airline and Mia Temporário, a director of Executive, which managed the airline’s in-flight magazine, Indico, were found guilty of embezzlement having diverted 50 million meticais (c. £609,000) through a service contract between LAM and Executive that was not fulfilled. Pinto and Fumo were jailed for 14 years each. Temporário was jailed for 12 years. In addition to this, all three culprits were ordered to pay 31 million meticais (c. £377,400) to the Mozambique state; the amount to be paid will be split equally between them all.
