Eight armed men stole an estimated 700kg of precious metals, worth approx. £23 million, from a cargo terminal at Guarulhos Airport. The men were driving two trucks that resembled police cars. They forced the workers to load the gold, which was destined for Zurich and New York, into the vehicle. The men took two airport workers as hostages and later released them unharmed. Three people were arrested in relation to the crime. Reportedly, one of the detainees worked at the airport and was forced to cooperate with the thieves after they kidnapped his family.
