Therese Halasa, 66, died at her home in Jordan. Halasa was 18 years old when she hijacked Sabena Flight 571 from Brussels to Lod. She was accompanied by three other members of the Palestinian Liberation Organisation, Rima Tannous, Ali Taha Abu Sneineh and Abdel-Aziz al-Atrash. The hijack ended when the aircraft landed in Israel and was liberated by Israeli forces disguised as airport workers and Red Cross members. Halasa and Tannous survived the hijack but were arrested. The Israeli force members included former Prime Minister Ehud Barak and current Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
