Khalifa Haftar forces carried out several rocket and drone attacks on Mitiga International Airport. On 15 August, a rocket strike hit two aircraft killing one security guard and injuring several others. Flights were diverted to Misrata Airport on 31 August when three missiles were launched at the airport; four civilians were wounded and a Libyan Airlines aircraft was damaged. An attack carried out by Khalifa Haftar forces on 14 September is believed to be an act of revenge for losing two senior commanders of a pro-LNA armed group who were killed in an airstrike the previous day.
