Eddie Cowman, 33, was sentenced for drunk and disorderly behaviour at Dublin Airport on 6 January. Cowman failed to check-in for his Ryanair flight to Barcelona on time and became abusive to check-in staff. The judge told Cowman if he made a €200 (c. £180) donation to the Peter McVerry Trust, he could avoid a criminal record as per the Probation of Offenders Act. The case was adjourned until October to allow Cowman to pay the donation or face conviction.
