9 JULY 2018: WELLINGTON, NEW ZEALAND

New Zealand’s Transport Minister Phil Twyford was fined NZD $500 (c. £260) for breaking CAA rules regarding the use of portable electronic devices during flights. Twyford used his phone to make a call just before his Air New Zealand flight took off for Auckland in May. He apologised and offered his resignation, but continues in his post, ceasing only his work with the CAA.
