Approximately seven men carried out an armed robbery in the cargo area of Santiago International Airport and stole a cash shipment worth over £11.5 million. The cash was due to be transported to banks within Chile. The men threatened the security guards at gun point to hand over the money and hit one security guard on the head, injuring him. The men travelled in two vehicles; one vehicle had the DHL logo painted on it. Police found the fake DHL van abandoned and partly burned; they suspect the gang was equipped with inside information.
