Reports emerged that Hilary Mackay, 54, was given a four-month suspended jail sentence for tripping up three flight attendants as they walked up and down the aisle on a Virgin Atlantic flight from Johannesburg to Heathrow last December. Reports state that Mackay was intoxicated and was angry with staff after they told her to move from a seat that she had not paid for – the seat had more leg room. Mackay claimed she had been practicing “judo sweeps”. Mackay was ordered to pay £1,140 in costs and compensation.
