A 69-year-old man was granted a discharge and secrecy order after pleading guilty to indecent assault in connection with an incident on an Air New Zealand flight from Palmerston North to Christchurch in August last year. During the flight, the man grabbed a woman by the hips and slapped her buttocks twice as she turned her back to him so he could pass her in the aisle. The judge claimed an indecent assault conviction would affect the man’s career.
