At least two passengers were reported to have been involved in the theft of around RM 3,000 (c. £555) from the luggage of another passenger, Douglas Cheah, during a Malaysian Airlines flight from Kuala Lumpur to Tokyo Narita. The flight was consequently diverted to Incheon where officials claimed they had no power to arrest the suspects since the incident took place in international airspace and no cash was found on either of the men.
