Alan Leahy, 36, was sentenced for repeatedly verbally abusing a teacher by calling him a paedophile and throwing his passport at an immigration officer’s head when he tried to intervene at Cork Airport in 2018. Leahy was given the opportunity to have the assault charge dropped if he donated €1,250 (c. £1,130) to the Garda Benevolent Fund. He was fined €750 (c. £680) for his comments to the teacher and €250 (c. £225) for being drunk and dangerous.
