Elin Ersson, 21, was fined 3,000 SEK (c. £250) for staging a protest to prevent the deportation of 52-year-old Afghan born Bismallah S. on a Turkish Airways flight from Gothenburg to Istanbul last July. Ersson initially intended to stop the deportation of another Afghani man, however as he was not booked to depart, she purchased a ticket to prevent the deportation of Bismallah S., a convicted criminal who had allegedly assaulted his wife and two daughters, instead.
