An S7 flight carrying Alexei Navalny from Tomsk to Moscow diverted to Omsk as a result of Navalny’s alleged poisoning by Novichok, and his subsequent need for urgent medical intervention; the crew, however, were told that Omsk airport was being evacuated due to a bomb. The crew landed regardless and were then initially told not to allow the passengers to disembark. The alleged bomb hoax was reported to have been called in five minutes after the crew requested permission to land in Omsk. It caused added speculation that attempts were being made to prevent Navalny receiving treatment.
