27 AUGUST 2018: KATHMANDU, NEPAL

A draft of the investigation report on the crash of a US-Bangla Airlines flight in Kathmandu in March was illegally leaked, claiming that the captain was in considerable emotional turmoil and suffered several break-downs throughout the flight from Dhakar. According to the report, the pilot was smoking in the cockpit, did not follow the instructions of air traffic control and approached Kathmandu’s runway from the wrong direction. However, authorities claim the leak was inaccurate and the captain’s state of mind was not the sole cause of the crash. 51 out of 71 people on board were killed.
