Iulian Ungureanu, a 25-year-old Romanian citizen, pleaded guilty to assault aggravated by sexual orientation in relation to an incident on board an easyJet flight from Iceland to London Gatwick in November 2018. Ungureanu and an unnamed passenger caused the flight to divert to Glasgow after they became drunk on duty-free alcohol and verbally and physically assaulted several passengers, including a same-sex couple, and verbally abused cabin crew. Ungureanu was sentenced to 204 days imprisonment.
