Peter Nelson, 46, racially abused a flight attendant, Sima Patel-Pryke, on a British Airways flight from Heathrow to Rio de Janeiro in June last year. Patel-Pryke woke up Nelson, who was travelling in business class, because his food had arrived. He then stated that “You Asians think you are better than us, I don’t want to be served by you lot, I’ve paid your wages for the last 20 years.” After which he demanded to be served by a white flight attendant. He was fined £1,900, £500 of that intended for the victim, and ordered to pay £3,400 to the prosecution.
